Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of talking to a Counsellor?

Talking to a counsellor has many benefits. All counsellors at Counselling Services Direct are fully qualified and are trained to work towards assisting you explore difficulties or distresses you may have in your life. Sometimes there may be issues, that for whatever reason, you may find difficult to talk about with members of your family or friends. Counselling can remove such constraints. As a trusting therapeutic relationship is established many clients feel that they can share at a level that perhaps they might not have been able to with others. Many clients find this very liberating. It is important to mention that clients are never 'pushed' in any way whatsoever. Many of our clients find that counselling can be challenging, but it is always at a pace they feel comfortable with. For therapy to work well, this is extremely important.

How many sessions will I need?

This really depends on the individual. We offer 'open ended' sessions which means that you will not be offered a set amount. The amount of sessions you have purely depends on how much therapeutic time you need for it to make a difference to your life. In our experience all clients work at different speeds and at different levels. Some clients may talk very freely from the very start where others it may take time. We totally respect this. We believe very strongly in client autonomy. This is why we never suggest how many sessions you may have or need. As always every client is treated as an individual hence you will never be 'squeezed' into a set amount of sessions. Reviews will take place throughout your therapy to see how beneficial you are finding the sessions.
